Design and Configuration Overview
The Vertical Conference Template, is very flexible with regards to design (look and feel) and function (features). Using the template configuration functions in the portal admin will allow you to configure the following elements:
Global Configuration
Global configurations are all of the elements that are persistance across the entire end user media portal site. When you configure elements such as headers, footers, colors and fonts, at the global configuration level, they will display site-wide unless overridden on specific internal pages. If elements are configured at the globl level, assume it will show on all pages of the media portal.
Miscellaneous Configuration
Miscellaneous configurations are unique elements that can be configured for single or multiple pages throughout the site. These are different than Global elements since they may not ve visible on all pages. As such, since it would be laborious to change these elements, page by page, we will categroize them under the miscellaneous configuration. Currently we are not using Misc. Configurations
Main Page Configuration
Main page configurations are all the elements that can be configured on the Main or Home Page, between the header and footer blocks. There is one exception to this, Custom Blocks. Custom blocks are used to incorporate elements that are not a typical part of a conference. These items might be Venue Details, Directions, Upcoming Events etc. These custom blocks are configured at the conference or event level since these are usually elements of a specific event. These blocks will be carried over to the archive pages when the portal is in archive mode.
Presenter Page Configuration
The presenter configuration allows you to override looks and feels that were set in the Main Page configurations. These elements include colors, shapes of images, layout of images. This gives the ability to customize the presenters page on the site. Examples of these configurations include, layouts - such as verticle stack view versus grid views. As V3+ evolves we will continue to add options to these configurations.
Sponsors Page Configuration
The sponsor configuration, much like presenter page configuration, will allow you to change the look and feel of the sponsor page. Again, you can change font colors, image sizes and layouts with this configuration.
Webcast/Player Page Configuration
The webcast player configuration allows customization not only the look and feel of the live webcast player, but also can add or hide elements as desired. These additional element include functions inherent in the portal structure, such as showing session details, speaker profiles etc, however there is an ability to add third party elements to the player page. The player will support third party applications that can prvide iframe or embed code. Some of these applications include twitter feeds, slack feeds, polling applications and more. If the third party application can provide the embed or iframe code, it can be incorporated. Special note While we can incorporate these applications, their inclusion can alter the page view in unintended ways, so carefully decide what and how many third party elements to include.
The function is also where you would make selections as to the size of the video player, slides if includes and player tabs that house content such as session overviews, speaker bios etc.
Archive/Player Page Configuration
Much like the webcast player page configuration, the archive player page can be configured to show the elements you want to include in the archive session. This is also the location to decide on the sizes of video and powerpoint windows, along with session type, such as video, video with ppt.
